Jamie Boyd

(b. 1948)

Jamie Boyd was born in Melbourne in 1948 and began painting full time at 17. He has lived most of his adult life in London with annual trips to Italy and returning to Australia periodically, bringing to his work the influence of the Australian landscape with a broad international sensibility. Jamie regularly visits the Boyd property at Shoalhaven where he is reunited with the beauty and strength of its surrounding landscape – this and other gentle links are apparent between works of the father and son: landscape, symbolism and dreams, theatre and the human figure.

The figures and landscapes for this exhibition include lithographs, etchings, collages and drawings in pencil, ink, gouache and pastel. We are delighted that several of Jamie’s small oil paintings will be included in this show, including a recent view of Geelong from Western Beach.

Jamie has exhibited regularly since 1966 in solo and group exhibitions in London and Australia as well as Germany, Holland and Italy and he is represented in many collections including the NGV, QVMAG, Artbank and Queensland and Western Australia universities.
