GAIL Willoughby

Gail Willoughby’s edgy style takes inspiration from the animal world with a unique and humorous approach to art mixed with an occasional touch of pathos.

Her bold and colourful work reflects influences from diverse sources including indigenous and graffiti art and 1950’s expressionism. Her subjects are bold both in their painterly qualities and in the character they express – her creatures have attitude! Willoughby doesn’t limit her subject to one canvas and frequently incorporates diptychs and triptychs. Her technique explores the use of dribbling paint alongside areas of strong flat colour resulting in works that exudes energy and excitement....( Lightfactory 2012)
